DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Introduction

Por 18€ dos simuladores a elegir entre todos esos. Buena oportunidad sobre todo para pillar los de DCS, que en tiempos de rebajas los bajan como mucho a 20€.

We're very happy to introduce a slew of new improvements and additions to the game exactly a year after the last official update.

We are hoping that this patch finally makes this game worthy of the Il-2 Sturmovik name and that simulation fans will give our game another look and a new chance.

NOTE: This patch is incompatible with previous game versions when playing online.

The current version contains the following changes:

PERFORMANCE
* Performed a huge amount of work improving both average and minimum FPS in the game.
Most recommended-spec machine will see increased average FPS and a significant reduction in the micro-freezes that had previously plagued the game. Their frequency, duration, and overall FPS impact will be greatly reduced or completely removed.
* Completely rewritten rended pipeline, reducing CPU load;
* Rewritten texture manager, reducing stutter when loading new textures;
* Moved landscape geometry generator to its own CPU core, reducing stutters;
* Optimized tree code, reducing stutters when moving across landscape or rotating camera;
* Moved grass generator to its own CPU core, decreasing stutters during low-level flight;
* Moved all building and vehicle damage models to be pre-loaded, rather than dynamically loaded when they are destroyed. This increased mission loading times and memory usage, and reduced stutters when blowing things up;
* Improved multithreading in many other aspects of the code, improving minimal FPS on most multicore machines.

AIRCRAFT
* Added a Su-26 acrobatics plane.
You can toggle airshow smoke by injecting oil into the exhaust manifold. This is done with the WEP button by default. The default smoke is white. You can select other colors by selecting corresponding loadout options.
The plane also comes with four easter egg weapons that can be loaded onto the center pylon:
- Shotgun – fires explosive pellets with everyone’ sfavorite green tracers;
- Laser – fires a beam that sets an enemy plane alight. Effective distance is 700m;
- Antimatter mortar – fires anti-matter spitwads;
- Railgun – fires a shell that generates electromagnetic pulse that in turn destroys enemy subsystems, especially engines.
* Added Hurricane MkI and Spitfire MkI with constant-speed propellers and 100-octane fuel.
* Conducted a huge amount of work correcting and improving aircraft flight models as well as most engine models. All work was based on historical flight test data or flight manuals.
* Corrected negative G cut-out for carburetor engines. The effect will be noticeable at around +0.1G.
* Corrected the mixture control level on Hurricanes and Spitfires. It is now push forward for Lean, pull back for Rich. With that, moving the throttle lever to idle will return the lever to Rich.
* Corrected (increased) low-altitude speeds for most Brutish fighters (Spitfire MkI with DH and Rotol aircrews, Hurricane MkI with DH and Rotol aircrews).
* Corrected fuel flow calculations for most aircraft.
* Corrected (increased) radiator drag when it is opened.
* Corrected throttle control. The entire range is now useful.
* Corrected overspeed sound. It will now steadily increase in volume depending on airspeed.
* Made corrections to rough running on non warmed Merlin engines. Engines still require to be warmed up and won’t work properly when too cold.
Please note that engines still start with oil and water at colder temperatures. With Hurricanes, please keep throttle back until the temperature is at least 45 degrees C;
* Fixed issue that occasionally caused planes with landing gear raised to still show it in the down position;
* Corrected rough running on Merlin engines above 11,000 ft;
* Corrected control surface angles on the Hurricanes according to historical documents;
* Added drag to canopies opened in-flight on all aircraft;
* Greatly increased the effects of punctured radiators on engine temperature to make the effect more noticeable;

* Fixed the inaudible hit sounds online bug;
* Fixed the issue that occasionally caused never-ending Stuka horns online;
* Corrected issue with the display of vapor trails;
* Corrected default trim tab positions on most axis aircraft;

Putas, no tengo tiempo ni ganas de traducir el briefing, pero voy abriendo el hilo para que quede claro que mañana se vuela otra misioncita de estas. Concretamente Hardcore Terrorists, que va a continuacion de Rookie Terrorists en caso de fallar estrepitosamente como fallamos esta ultima.

Creo recordar que hay A-10, Ka-50 y creo que Su-25.

Note about NVidia SLI:

The patch must go through official NVidia accreditation for SLI support to be officially enabled in drivers. The patch will only go through the process once it’s officially released on steam.

If you wish to bypass this process and manually enable SLI support, please go through the following steps:

1) Download a profiler utility, for example

FM
Conducted a huge amount of work correcting and improving aircraft flight models as well as most engine models. All work was based on historical flight test data or flight manuals (Sean, what would we do without you!). Unfortunately our flight model does not allow us to perfectly replicate test results at all ranges of altitude. At altitudes above 8000 m (26,000 ft) most aircraft begin to perform worse than their historical counterparts. Addressing this discrepancy requires a large additional amount of work, and will therefore be done in a future release.
Changes in this patch include:

- Various minor changes and corrections to all aircraft.

- Added Hurricane MkI and Spitfire MkI with constant-speed propellers and 100-octane fuel.

- Corrected the Merlin engine model.

- Added pitot heat controls to Spitfires.

- G.50

NOTE: Our artificial intelligence simply could not manage the pure awesomeness of this plane. If you try to create doom flights of railgun-armed Su-26s the AI will most likely just crash.
The Su-26 is a special type of a recon plane in the game, so other AI aircraft will mostly ignore it in missions.

Diversos BDRM, MTLB y T-55 han caido en manos enemigas, y entre ellos cinco Stinger-MANPADs.
Hace dos dias, este mismo grupo capturó seis camiones de color rojo y azul cargados con explosivos.
Se han declarado recientemente como organización terrorista y han amenazado con usar estos camiones en un ataque bomba.
Inteligencia ha localizado el campamento terrorista al lado de un lago.
La carretera que se dirige al campamento tiene seis puentes que han sido convertidos en puntos de control con el equipo militar robado.


Objetivos:

Sigue el cañón y destruye todos los vehículos militares que encuentres.
Limpia los puentes y combate a traves de los puntos de control enemigos hasta el lago de la montaña.
Destruye el campamento terrorista junto al lago.
Encuentra y destruye los seis camiones color rojo y azul.
Si los camiones son localizados por nuestros JTACs, lo comunicarán.

El objetivo de esta misión es destruir los tres depositos de munición y el hangar de la base enemiga. Una vez el emplazamiento de Patriots sea destruido, los Su-25T liderarán el ataque a la base aérea. Nuestra artillería atacará la torre sur. Suponemos que los tanques enemigos de la base intentarán atacar nuestra artilleria. En cualquier caso, nuestra artillería tendrá apoyo de nuestros tanques que tomarán parte en la ofensiva. Diversos camiones cisterna de gran importancia tactica están aparcados en la base. Se espera que estos camiones intenten escapar mediante convoy tan pronto como la base aérea sea abandonada. Evita que dicho convoy escape. Unidades terrestres de apoyo están estacionadas al norte y se espera que defiendan la base enemiga.


Vuelo Ka-50:
- Destruye el emplazamiento de misiles Patriot.
- Apoya a nuestros tanques durante su asalto a la base y elimina unidades enemigas.
- Destruye el convoy que pudiera intentar escapar de la región.

Vuelo Su-25T:
- Destruye el emplazamiento de misiles Patriot.
- Apoya a nuestros tanques durante su asalto a la base y elimina unidades enemigas.

Nota: Hay un pequeño lío en el briefing con torres y depósitos, supongo que producto de los cambios que hayan ido haciendo a la misión. El objetivo son los depósitos aunque en la imagen marquen las torres, en las imágenes de la mision está bien.

Hace unos días unidades enemigas cruzaron la frontera. Capturaron el aeropuerto de Gudauta y actualmente ocupan toda la zona.

Hay localizados cuatro emplazamientos de SAM Buk en las montañas al norte de Gudauta. Estos emplazamientos controlan todo el espacio aereo alrededor de Gudauta.

La capacidad de nuestras unidades terrestres es extremadamente limitada debido a los intensos combates en la base aerea. La mayoría de unidades blindadas hostiles se encuentran al norte de Gudauta (vease foto satélite), donde esperan la entrega urgente de combustible y municiones.

Sabemos que hay refuerzos en camino para estas unidades. Un IL-76 "Candid" ha salido de Sochi-Adler y llegará a Gudauta. Suponemos que un convoy de suministro blindado avanzará desde el aeropuerto hasta las unidades blindadas. ¡Dicho convoy ha de ser destruido antes de que llegue a reforzar los carros enemigos! ¡La operacion "Asalto a Gudauta" está en marcha!

Primero deberemos conseguir superioridad aérea y llevar a cabo extensos ataques aéreos sobre las unidades terrestres enemigas. Tan pronto como la ruta a Gudauta esté despejada nuestra task force terrestre "Playboy" partirá hacia Gudauta y ocupará el aeropuerto.

- Si los A-10 no consiguen derribar el Il-76 "Candid", te verás obligado a destruir el convoy de suministros.

Quick patch notes

Extensive investigation showed that crashes were often connected with the “not officially supported” weather module. Examining some user-made missions from some online servers showed that people were using the functionality extensively. We’ve temporarily disabled it which appears to resolve a large number of online crashes.

The investigation also shows that a disproportionately large number of crashes happens while a web browser with a flash video or audio (such as youtube) is open in the background. We recommend temporarily closing your web browser, or at the very least any tabs with open flash audio or video, while playing the game.

A Effects setting was thoroughly rewritten. Setting Effects to Medium will greatly increase average FPS on most machines without greatly affecting visual quality. Note that this setting also affects the visual appearance of clouds.

Many changes to the Flight Model were made, and the work still continues. Please note that the general performance of the British aircraft is much closer to desired envelope, but the information shown on the Boost gauge is scaled incorrectly at the moment.
Known issues: temporarily disabled cloud shadows again; hit decals may appear glitched; some steam effects like punctured water radiators and wing vortices also temporarily disabled.

The main goal of this version of the patch is, once again, to locate and fix any remaining crash bugs. Please continue sending in your logs and crash dumps to ishevchenko@1cpublishing.eu

The patch is ready! What we have today is a DX10-only alpha. DX9 support is specifically removed. If you are running DX9, do not apply the patch!

The main purpose of the alpha is to find and squash any remaining or new bugs, especially crash bugs. The most common of the infamous launcher crashes have been fixed, but a few very hard to catch bugs remain. On average, a full day of flying causes about 0.8 crashes, and our internal testing has not yet provided the crash logs needed to zero in on the issue.

We don’t have a complete readme at this time, but a rough list of changes is below.

Known Issues

• Not fully optimized: grass, clouds, and trees. Clouds cause constant FPS drop; grass and trees cause hick-ups. A few extra days of work for this, a few days for grass, few days for clouds, we felt that we could start open testing the patch without waiting for these changes.
• Texture cache failing to draw higher-res textures on close-up objects with lower settings on below-recommended video cards.
• Weathering textures on aircraft appear shiny in shadows.
• No damage decals on aircraft from small-caliber hits.
• The hit flash effects are temporarily turned off.
• Far and medium distance clouds are temporarily turned off.
• Text in dialogue windows in the mission builder may appear bugged with other dialogue windows underneath.
• The front line in mission builder and minimap is drawn incorrectly.


Changes and Improvements

Performance


We've performed a huge amount of work improving both average and minimum FPS in the game. Most recommended-spec machine will see a roughly double average FPS and a significant reduction in the micro-freezes that had previously plagued the game. Their frequency, duration, and overall FPS impact will be greatly reduced or completely redone.

Some of the changes include:

• Completely rewritten render pipeline, which reduced CPU load;
• Rewritten texture manager, reducing stutter when loading new textures;
• Moved landscape geometry generator to its own CPU core, reducing stutters;
• Optimized tree code, reducing stutters when moving across landscape or rotating camera;
• Moved grass generator to its own CPU core, decreasing stutters during low-level flight;
• Moved all building and vehicle damage models to be pre-loaded, rather than dynamically loaded when they are destroyed. This increased mission loading times and memory usage, and reduced stutters when blowing things up;
• Improved multithreading in many other aspects of the code, improving minimal FPS on most multicore machines.

Flight Model

We've performed a tremendous amount of work testing and improving flight models in the game, as well as improving various aircraft engines. We used actual pilot's notes and flight testing data during the process (thank you Sean!). Unfortunately some deeply-set limitations in the engine code do not allow us to minimize the margin of error at altitudes about 7 km (21,000 ft) where most aircraft begin to perform worse than their real-life counterparts. Fixing this requires more extensive code rework and will therefore only appear with the upcoming sequel. However at lower altitudes most flyables will perform much closer to real life. We also have to note that some aircraft, most notably Spitfire Mk.II, had better performance than the real thing. Others, especially their engines, had reduced performance. We've addressed these serious issues and made our planes fly much closer to the real thing.

Partial List:

G.50
Temperature models of the engine were wrong due to incorrect data. The engine could not get up to required power at all altitudes. We've also added +100 boost for WEP mode.

Spitfire Mk.II
The aircraft's speed performance was too good at all altitudes, sometimes 60 mph better than the real thing.

Spitfire Mk.I
Fixed the top speed dip above 18,000 ft.

Hurricane Mk.I
Speed performance was also too good at all altitudes, similar to the Spit II.

Blenheim Mk.IV
Had many problems with the engine model. The engine overheated at normal RPM, the plane could not get up to stated airspeed at all altitudes. Maximum allowed airspeed was too great, and the plane could get up to 560 mph in a dive. A huge amount of work was performed to improve the plane's FM and bring it up to speed.



Artificial Intelligence

Partial list:

• Fixed some non-working orders, removed others from the list. There are no more orders available to the player that the AI does not follow.
• Added a request for available targets;
• Turned off friendly fire for ground battles (improving FPS);
• Added the ability to query current waypoint for scripts;
• Told AI pilots not to commit ritual suicide when their leader crash-lands;
• Fixed out of turn take offs for AI pilots;

Sound

Partial list:

• Fixed two-engine flanger;
• Added detailed engine malfunction sounds;
• Added MG-34 and Bren Mk.II machine gun sounds;
• Added many other sounds: bomb whistle, bomb hit, atmospheric ambient, cockpit ambient, and many more;
• Improved and added engine sounds. For example, the Merlin family contains MerlinIII-RG-Hurricane, MerlinIII-RG-Spitfire, MerlinXII, and Merlin_III which all sound differently under various RPM conditions
